Product Description The De Havilland Otter is the military version of the De Havilland DHC-6. One of its main differences is its optional float and ski fittings. An all-weather aircraft, the De Havilland Otter superseded the DHC-3 and was used by airlines in Alaska and other areas with short or rough runways. It has crew and passenger oxygen systems and a navigation and communications package. The aircraft made its maiden voyage in 1965, achieving a cruise speed of 150 knots and a range of 700 miles, with a service ceiling of 25,000 feet. The De Havilland Otter provided airlift support for the US Air Force Academy cadet parachuting program. When it reached the end of production in 1988, a total of 844 aircraft were developed for both military and commercial customers. Featuring a massive wing design, the De Havilland Otter promises unequaled speed and range. Its muted colors give it an air of understated elegance, and its clean looks and dark accents provide an aura of sophistication not found in any other aircraft. This wood model aircraft screams museum masterpiece but also whispers stories of a time when courage and determination were traits that were of abundance.
