From the Manufacturer 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Hot Melt Adhesive 3776 LM AE is a tan, low melt adhesive that will bond light gauge metal, primed on unprimed metal to various substrates and themselves and also bond wood, fabric, plastics such as ABS, PVC, acrylic, flexible and rigid foam. It is composed of 100% solids, thermoplastic resin in 8″ stick form for use with 3M Scotch-Weld™ Hot Melt Applicator LT, Q, and EC. The 8″ stick will produce up to 20 linear feet of 1/8″ bead and the special ribbed contour works with the Quadrack convertor to prevent slippage to provide reliable, consistent feed-through of the adhesive stick. Its 40 second open time provides ample time for positioning and adjusting for fit and still reduces production time for assembly. As a low-volatile-organic (VOC) compound, this adhesive produces minimal odor when heated and helps support a comfortable work environment. Product InformationViscosity (cps) 8250@375°F/121°C Melt Point 184°F/84°C Open Time 40 sec Heat Resistance 140°F/60°C Peel Strength 6 PIW (lbs Per Inch of Width, on canvas) Shear Strength 480 PSI (Douglas Fir) About Hot Melt Adhesives Hot melt adhesives encompass a range of characteristics. Low melt adhesives/ hot-glue sticks have a relatively low melting point that ranges between approximately 170 – 2500F/76 – 1210C, depending on the formulation, and are applied with low-temperature applicators, commonly referred to as hot-glue guns. Low-melt adhesives are beneficial in that they can be used to bond heat sensitive materials such as foam and a range of plastics. They provide a nearly instant bond but when the bond is reheated, some varieties will soften, allowing the bonded surfaces to be separated. The aggressive hot tack nature of low-melt adhesives speeds up production and assembly operations that involve light gage metals, some plastics, and other non-fibrous materials in addition to building display boards, floral displays, and hobby projects. These adhesives are also used in manufacturing, assembly and packaging processes, window, door, construction, transportation, electronics, and other industries, as well as in woodworking, assembling building store displays, convention sample boards, trophies, novelties, upholstery, furniture, audio components, and cabinets.Hot melt adhesives/hot-glue sticks have a relatively hot melting point that ranges between approximately 250-3800F/121-1960C, depending on the formulation, and are applied with hot-melt applicators, commonly referred to as hot-glue guns. Hot-melt glues provide a nearly instant bond between many plastics, paper and wood, but when the bond is reheated, some varieties will soften, allowing the bonded surfaces to be separated. The quick-stick nature of hot-melt adhesives speeds up operations in packaging and production.About 3M Industrial Adhesives and Tapes For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals.
